Overview

Registering as a user on GlobalIndustrial.com is quick and easy. You need to register and set up an account before you can place an order.  

The registration process has three steps:

  1. Enter your basic registration information on the New Account Registration page.

  2. Enter your billing and ship-to addresses using links from your Account Information page.

  3. Enter your payment method using the link from your Account Information page.

The first step is the minimum required to open an account so you can log on.  As a new user, you need to enter the username and password you will use to log on to our website.  The procedures for the different account types are covered below.

The second and third steps are not required at registration time.  But, providing this information during registration streamlines the checkout process, because you won't have to reenter it every time you place an order.  The procedures for entering this information are covered under the My Account topic.

Getting Started

To get started registering and opening your account, click on any of the following:

  • 'My Account' or 'Log On' on the menu across the top of any page to open the Log On page, and then click on the button under New Customers.  The New Account Registration page opens.

  • button on the Shopping Cart page - the Checkout Pages change to a different format to enter the account information as described on the Managing Your Shopping Carts/Checking Out help page.

Click the Customer Type drop-down arrow to display a list of customer types. Then, click on the appropriate type of customer on the list to select that option.  The fields appropriate to your account type appear on the page.  

You must enter the requested information in any field marked with a red asterisk (*).  The other fields are optional.

There are two types of New Account Registrations:

  • Business (includes any type of organization: company, government, education, agency, religious, non-profit, etc.)

  • Individual Consumer

Business Account Basic Registration

To create a business account, basic registration information is required for both the organization and for the Account Administrator.  You are required to register both the company and yourself using the business New Account Registration page.  As the first user registered for the organization, you automatically become the business Account Administrator.

Company Information

Type in or select from a drop-down list, depending on the field type, the following information for the company (all fields marked with a red asterisk * are required):

  1. *The official Company Name.

  2. *The Country (must be one of those on the drop-down list).

  3. *The Primary Postal Code (must be a valid code for the country selected above).

  4. *The Primary Phone Number, including area code and any extension.

  5. *Industry Class.

  6. Employee Count.

  7. Company Web Site URL.

Administrator Personal Information Fields

Type in the following information for you or whoever is the Administrator for the account:

  1. Your Salutation (Mr., Ms, Dr., etc.).

  2. *Your First Name and Last Name.

  3. *Your Email address.

  4. *Your User Name (no spaces) to identify yourself as an online user when logging on.

  5. *Your Password. Your password is encrypted.  It is case sensitive, with a minimum of 6 characters and a maximum of 16.

  6. *Your password repeated in the Re-enter Password field to confirm it.

  7. Your Secret Question and Your Answer. The answer should be a password hint to help you remember your password in the future (i.e. "What is my son's birthday?" The answer should be your password or it should remind you of your password). The Password Question/Answer is optional.
Submitting the Registration
  1. Click on the Remember me... checkbox to check it (optional).  This will save you time at checkout, because you won't have to reenter all this information.

  2. Click on the button.  The system saves your registration information and transfers you to the Account Information page.  

The Account Information page contains links to pages where you enter your addresses and payment method information.  See My Account for more information on entering addresses and entering payment method information.

 

IMPORTANT: If you are ordering for a business account, at the time you check out with your shopping cart, you will be given a choice of payment methods: credit card or open account (see Managing Your Shopping Carts/Checking Out).

Individual Consumer Account Basic Registration

To create an individual consumer account, user information and address information for the user are required.  You can only have one individual per account, but the same individual can have multiple accounts, each identified by a unique user name.

User Information Fields

Type in or select from a drop-down list, depending on the field type, the following information (all fields marked with a red asterisk * are required):

  1. Your Salutation (Mr., Ms, Dr., etc.).

  3. *Your Email Address.
