Blue Tempered Shim is made from a high carbon 1095 hardened and tempered spring steel. Precision Brand® is the only manufacturer to offer Branded® shim. Precision Brand 316 Stainless Steel Shim is made from a soft (annealed) temper material. Type 316 stainless steel has better corrosion resistance to most chemicals, salts, acids, and marine atmospheres due to an addition of 2.0 to 3.0% molybdenum.
