These containers have steel hinged lids that are permanently attached, interlocking securely for stacking. Molded from high-density FDA approved polyethylene, containers nest with lids open. Handles have molded-in grips. Sold in carton quantities.
Integral hasp allows padlock or cable tie for security (padlock and cable tie sold separately).

Different from previous model
These containers, ordered July 2011, are different than the containers I ordered in August 2008. The part number was identical. The new containers are slightly smaller. The difference in dimensions is very slight, but it is enough to affect nesting. A new one will nest inside of an old one, but an old one nests very tightly inside of a new one, and is difficult to separate.
The new containers are, in my judgement, slightly less robust than the old ones. They are still extremely resilient, but the hinge quality and the design of the interlocking seam on the lid is better on the old units.
The new containers are still high quality and will serve my needs, but I am disappointed that the unit changed but retained the same part number. If I had a full fleet of just the new models it would be fine, but now I have a small but annoying interoperability issue between my new and old collections.
