Set screws have forged sockets, insuring maximum strength and resistance to cracking in the corners. Smooth, flat, deep sockets, free of machining tears or roach chips. Allen/Hex Keys are used to drive the screw.

Less grain is exposed with forging making screws less likely to have hydrogen embrittlement. Socket walls are much stronger than those created by drill and broach method thereby reducing potential for failure. Threads on set screws are either rolled or ground, depending on size limitation. Set screws are available in coarse and fine threads with points in the following configurations: cup and knurl.

Cup Point: It is employed where the quick and more or less permanent location of pulleys, collars, etc on soft shaft is required. It should not be used against other shafts or other parts which have been hardened. Holo-Knurl®: Is used where vibrational resistance and greater holding power is required.

Properly seated, the key cannot ride out of the socket. Fine, delicate adjustments are readily made: with Holo-Krome it is easy to "feel" the amount of tightening pressure being applied.
