It is ceiling mount with no electrical entrance under to inside of sign. I had to drill a hole in mount bracket to feed wiring through. -

Hello Ralph, yes the Exit sign is AC powered and will remain lit when power is active. When power is interrupted, the sign is energized via on-board batteries and will remain active for 90 minutes. Thank you for your question.
