Screw Thread Insert taps are oversized taps that produce a thread that will accept a helical coil wire screw thread insert of the same size and pitch. Straight Flute hand taps are used for hand tapping and machine tapping in through holes and blind holes in a wide variety of materials. Features a 1-2 thread Bottoming Chamfer.
HSS for added wear resistance & better lubricity of tool surface which increases tool life & productivity. 18 piece set in metal index. Includes the following tap sizes with their corresponding tap drill: (Tap Sizes: 2.5mm x 0.45, 3.0mm x 0.50, 3.5mm x 0.60, 4.0mm x 0.70, 5.0mm x 0.80, 6.0mm x 1.00, 8.0mm x 1.25, 10.0mm x 1.50, 12.0mm x 1.75), (Dill Sizes: 2.05mm, 2.50mm, 2.90mm, 3.30mm, 4.20mm, 5.00mm, 6.70mm, 8.50mm, 10.20mm).
ACME Tandem Tap An ACME Tap combines the initial roughing cut with the final finishing cut in a single pass to achieve an ACME screw thread. Thread pitches are generally coarse relative to diameters, so these taps are subjected to heavy chip loads.
Plug chamfer spiral point tap. 3 – 5 incomplete threads before cutting. Shoots chips ahead of the cutting action; therefore, best used for tapping a through hole. Most efficient and useful cutting tap. Ground thread for better surface finish and tighter tolerances. Ideal for threading a wide variety of ductile materials, steels, copper, copper alloy, brass and plastics. Manufactured from high-speed steel. Use for tapping in carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials. Made in the USA.
This fluteless tap does not have cutting edges and is used in thread forming processes. For use with softer, more ductile materials.
