Unidirectional carbon fiber has its fibers running in a single parallel direction so it is ideal for applications where front-to-back strength is important. Long, tubular structures that move in a forward-and-reverse direction, such as rockets, airplanes, boats, and bicycles, all use unidirectional carbon fiber as reinforcement.
Phenolic Tubes made from Grade L Linen is a fine weave (less than 4 ounce/square yard) cotton fabric commonly called linen, combined with phenolic resin. It is used for smaller and more intricate shapes than Grade C Canvas Phenolic. This products is also known Linen Phenolic, Micarta L, and Bakelite. Note: These tubes are 'made-to-order' and may have a 3-4 week lead-time to ship. Contact us directly to inquire about expedited delivery options.
Woven carbon fiber is produced by the interlacing of fibers running in two different directions. This makes it useful in applications where loads come from all directions. The weave also gives these items superior machinability by minimizing fraying and splintering during cutting and drilling operations.
