  • Of what material is the outer jacket of the cable made, and do you have any information on the use of this product buried in concrete? Thanks!

Hello, the outer jacket is made of vinyl. Unfortunately, the cable cannot be buried in concrete as the thermostat will not function properly. Thank you for your questions.

  • The part with the thermostat has a black bulb protruding.I am assuming that is the sensor and the photos show this sensor being placed against the pipe. Does it have to be that way or will the sensor detect cold temps just by being exposed. I don't bleive in my application I can instll with the black part toughing the pipe due to the location of my outlet and not wanting to use an extension cord.

The thermostat (the black cap in the orange block) must be placed tightly against the pipe and secured with electrical tape. The thermostat should be placed on the coldest end of the pipe. The thermostat will sense the temperature of the pipe and turn the cable on and off to provide economical operation.
